在你学习英语的道路上一定会出现下面我说的这种情况：
1) I called her new boyfriend by her ex-boyfriend's name - it was just a slip of the tongue=It's a slip of tongue when I called her by her new boyfriend by her ex-boyfriend's name.
我跟她新男友叫成她前男友的名字，真是口误不小/说错话了。
学习：啊！我知道了，英语a slip of tongue有“口语，说错话”的意思，学习了。
2) I didn't mean to tell her that. It was a slip of the tongue. I failed to u
我不是故
意告诉她的，不小心说漏嘴而已。
学习：啊！我知道了，英语a slip of tongue有“说漏嘴”的意思，学习了。
然后你又突然想起：记得曾经还学过一句跟tongue有关的英语，说的是“话到嘴边却一时想不起来了”。
哦，明白了，你说的是on
the tip of my tongue这个短语：
1) Her name was on the tip of my tongue when we met in the office,but I couldn't rememver it in time.
我们在办公室见面时她说名字都到我嘴边了，可就是不能想起来。
2) I had the answer on the tip of my tongue. Just give me a second.I'll make it.
答案就在我嘴边了，给我一分钟，我能想起来。
表面上看起来，这样的英语学习过程很完美：我们用中文学习理解又记住了一句实用地道英语，剩下的就是等待那个机会，有机会和有条件把这句英语用起来跟老外对话就是了。
可是，我敢肯定过不了几天，你把slip of tongue和on the tip of tongue搞混淆了，或者见到其中一个却“想不起”另外一个怎么写了！！！
这时，我们总是习惯和满足于用中文学英语，用中文理解英语，用中文记英语，以及平时“拒绝”培养用英语学英语的习惯和能力的“弊端”彻底暴露出来了。因为你只具备用中文记英语的习惯和能力，一旦“忘词”或“混词”，你绝对无法继续用英语表达a slip of tongue和in tip of tongue的意思：你非得“说”a slip of tongue和on tip of tongue才能表达a slip of tongue和on tip of tongue不可：多少人为此“哭晕在厕所里”？
换言之，此时也同样给了我们平时养成用英语学英语的习惯和能力一个很好的“表现机会”：不说a slip of tongue和on tip of tongue同样能告诉对方我们想说a slip of tongue和on tip of tongue的意思。
1) a slip of tongue: When you say:It's a slip of tongue,you mean it's a mistake,it's an error in your talk.You said something wrong unintentionally. You didn't mean it when you sad some words.
2) on tip of tongue: Well,you know it's something,or some name,some word I almost can recall or remrmber when I am trying to say it,but just
can't recall or remember it right now/at the moment.
也就是说，我们平时注重训练用英语学英语的习惯和能力的话，临到用时会给我们表达上提供两个便利：说一个词的“字面”如a slip of tongue和on tip of tongue，说它的“意思”：a mistake,an error blablabla
有了这种“说意思”的能力(源自平时用英语学英语训练)，你就不怕“忘字面”而哑口的尴尬了。
我在现实中(考试场合不算)，是时常用“说意思”跟人沟通英语的，这就好比日常老百姓的说话。老百姓说话不是个个“妙语连珠”“出口成章”的。
这也就是真正“掌握”了英语和灵活运用英语能力的体现。
这也正是我不遗余力推崇用英语学英语的“苦心”。只是常常感到“曲高和寡”。
